All aboard! A first for Newcastle

Congrats to Newcastle in celebrating the first home porting of a cruise ship in the city!

Home porting of cruise ships has been on the Newcastle agenda for some time now, and it has finally become a reality.

The P&O Pacific Sun will depart Newcastle , heading for Noumea at 4pm today.

So if you’re near the Newcastle Foreshore, soak up the sun, wave bon voyage and witness a first for Newcastle.

A patchwork of villages

It’s amazing how much area the Upper Hunter Country covers – over 18,000 square kilometres of National Parks, cattle country, vineyards and green river flats to be exact.

And it’s not uncommon to find sheep wandering across the road while cars stop to give way, as if it was a pedestrian!

Visit the cute and quaint towns and villages of Aberdeen, Broke, Cassilis, Denman, Merriwa, Murrurundi, Muswellbrook and Scone. Steeped in history and heritage, you’ll find everyone has a special story of why they love this gorgeous area. Check it out yourself one day.

Wake up and smell the roses

I love spring. It’s my favourite time of year. Not too hot, not too cold.

What’s really great about the Hunter this time of year is that everything even smells better! That clean, crisp air, with rose and wattle fragrances fill your senses.

If you want to experience something really fantastic, the Hunter Valley Gardens Festival of Flowers runs throughout the month of September. This is a must do if you’re in the wine region. See you there!
