Wedding Bells in the Vineyards

I was at a wedding last Friday in the Hunter Valley. The bride was obviously the most gorgeous thing in the room, but I just couldn’t take my eyes off the stunning Hunter Valley scenery that unfolds over every hill, grape vine and cellar door.

And what amazed me even more, was how close it is to other Hunter towns. Singleton is only about 25 minutes away; Newcastle was under an hour.

This is such a perfect time of year to check out the Hunter Valley Wine Country. It’s simply gorgeous – just like the bride!

Wake up and smell the roses

I love spring. It’s my favourite time of year. Not too hot, not too cold.

What’s really great about the Hunter this time of year is that everything even smells better! That clean, crisp air, with rose and wattle fragrances fill your senses.

If you want to experience something really fantastic, the Hunter Valley Gardens Festival of Flowers runs throughout the month of September. This is a must do if you’re in the wine region. See you there!

The Hunter Valley Rocks on

Congrats to Hunter Valley, looks like their proud new owners of the fabulous music festival CMC Rocks The Hunter.

This event has some major (major) acts in country music like Kasey Chambers, Felicity Urquhart, Gina Jeffreys and Beccy Cole.

The date has yet to be officially announced, but a heads up for the page in your calendar marked March 2011.

More news to follow as it comes about. Stay tuned.

My Hunter – a few of my favourite things

It’s 5.30pm on a Friday afternoon at work, I press send on my last email for the day and I’m out of here! This Friday is no ordinary end to the week however. This weekend, I go exploring. This place is right on my doorstep in Newcastle. This place, I call the Hunter Valley.

Food, glorious food, aromas, candles, wine and of course, my partner were waiting for me on arrival at The Leisure Inn, Pokolbin, just a short hour’s drive from Newcastle.

We found a little hidden gem in the Hunter Valley – Emma’s Cottage in Lovedale was an unexpected surprise. Set on a gorgeous working vineyard property, we set up a picnic with our newly purchased wine from the cellar door (aka the cottage) and ate and drank the afternoon away.

These are just a few of my favourite things in the Hunter. There are so many more…stay tuned!
